Please read the email(Notice of Purchasing The Student Accidental Injury Insurance for The Academic Year 2023-2024) sent by OSA on October 27, and scan the code to fill in the acknowledgment receipt before 12:00 pm, 1 November 2023 (Wednesday) to confirm whether you are enrolled in insurance. The University is organizing all students to purchase Student Accidental Injury Insurance for the academic year 2023-2024. We would like to remind you of the following details:
Insurer: PICC Property and Casualty Co., Ltd., Shenzhen Branch.
Duration of Insurance Coverage: From 1 September 2023 to 31 August 2024.
Insurance Amount: 5 CNY is to be paid by each insurant. And the Shenzhen Municipal Finance Department and the Education Development Foundation will each pay 5 CNY to cover the rest of the premium for each insurant.
Method of Payment: The insurance premium will be deducted directly from your student account, from which students deposit for purchasing textbooks, learning materials, etc.
Eligibility for this Insurance: All registered full-time undergraduate students are eligible.
Insurance liability and Indemnity: According to “A Letter to Students’ Parents from the Shenzhen Education Bureau” (Appendix 1), during the insurance period, if the insurant suffers an accidental injury, or if the accidental injury causes death, disability, burns, or medical treatment, the insurer will pay the insurance indemnity or pay the medical expenses according to the insurance policy. Regarding the compensation for death, disability, or burns, the maximum amount per person is 100,000 CNY. And with regards to the compensation for medical expenses, the maximum amount per person is 10,000 CNY. Detailed insurance terms can be found in the attachment.
Important Note
This accidental insurance plan is endorsed by The Shenzhen Education Bureau and subsidized by The Shenzhen Municipal Finance Department and The Education Development Foundation. Students purchase insurance voluntarily. But we strongly recommend all students to pay for the insurance coverage.
If anyone decides not to purchase the accidental insurance after a discussion with your parents (or legal guardian), please scan the code (Appendix 1) have the acknowledgment receipt filled, and print the screenshot. The electronic screenshot shall be emailed to iriszhao@cuhk.edu.cn and the physical screenshot shall be submitted to Room 502, Student Centre, by 12:00 pm, 1 November 2023.
