The Opening Ceremony of The Fifth Social Good Festival of The Chinese University of Hong Kong, Shenzhen, will be launched on September 13th. The Social Practice Center would like to extend our sincere invitation to all of you to participate and get involved in abundant activities in the coming weeks.

Barriers or Obstacles are things that hinder us from better understanding the world and taking action. In the era of pursuing the maximization of efficiency, society has become more inclined to simply serve specific, less diverse types of people. This has caused the differences between people to be ignored. Faced with changes, everyone may become a “disabled person” in a certain situation. We need to consider the actual circumstances and needs of more people and create and tolerate a barrier-free environment, which will help each of us live more comfortably, and we might be less worry about barriers one day.

With the concept of “Barrier-free” being more exposed to society, The Social Good Festival aims to assist students to better comprehend the deeper meaning of barriers and equality through three levels’ activities as comprehension, experience and co-creation. Moreover, to guide students to experience, and reflect on the setbacks encountered in diversified group life and to actively co-create and promote the establishment of the barrier-free campus and urban city environment together.
