Double 11 shopping festival, express delivery, fast fashion, these terms carry the carnival of consumerism, and hide the price simultaneously. Numerous social problems, such as high carbon emissions, excessive consumption, and express delivery garbage, have emerged behind the huge transaction volume on the November 11 of Double 11 Shopping Festival.

To encourage sustainable and rational consumption, Sorting Master will hold a series of activities entitled "Sustainable Consumption on the Singles' Day" :

1. [Movie Screening | Sustainable Waste]

It is said that 90% of people who watch this film will take action. The film is particularly tailored for those who want to consume rationally and sustainably but lack key motivation. In the film, Shi Yan, a well-known Chinese talk show actor, takes a lighthearted and humorous approach to discuss the relatively serious topics of environmental protection and sustainable development in China. The pioneers of China’s Sustainability field are trying to establish a new order in chaos in their way. The whole film is interspersed with impromptu talk shows and hilarious jokes that reflect how life projects itself on everyone – “Oh my God! Isn't that me in there?”

In this way, the somewhat magnificent international proposition of "sustainability" is interpreted in the film as a new life experiment, even a life experiment. Here, "sustainability" is no longer far away but a lifestyle closely related to individuals. And you will see the individual’s understanding of "sustainability" and the extension of diversity in life.

2. [Carton Recycling to Exchange for Marshmallow]

Behind the scenes are the massive consumption and environmental pollution of plastics bags, express carton parcels, and shock-proof fillers. According to the "Research Report on the Production Characteristics and Management Status of China Express Packaging Waste" jointly issued by The China Environmental Protection Federation and other environmental organizations, in 2018, our country has consumed 9.412 million tons of express packaging materials. 13.03 million tons of carbon dioxide have been emitted for production, usage, and garbage disposal, requiring 710 million planted trees to neutralize it.

This year, hand in hand with Sorting Master's project team, let us spend an environmentally friendly Double-Eleven Carnival together. To deal with the garbage collection problem caused by a large number of express carton parcels during the carnival, the Sorting Master will recycle express cartons from all staff and students on our campus. If you bring the processed cartons following the regulations, in that case, you can redeem fresh-made marshmallows (one per person), and more cartons can be used to accumulate points in exchange for other exquisite items.

Given the adjustment of e-commerce marketing strategies this year, cartons' recycling time has been adjusted before the Double Eleven Carnival.

• Crucial Remarks:

1. Carton boxes are recyclable garbage, and tape stickers belong to other trash. These two must be disposed of separately.
2. Correct recycling method: unpack the carton and empty the contents - remove the tape, stickers and chuck them into the bin of other trashes - fold the carton and send it to the recycling point.
