2021香港中文大学(深圳)年度颁奖典礼圆满落幕

2022年5月6日下午,香港中文大学(深圳)举行了隆重的颁奖典礼,表彰2021年度对学校各方面工作做出杰出贡献的十三位教师与一百三十六名学生。香港中文大学(深圳)校长徐扬生教授,副校长阮健骢先生,协理副校长蔡小强教授、顾阳教授,研究生院院长王学锋教授,各学院和书院负责人,学生事务处、学能提升研究中心负责人以及部分获奖师生出席了本次线上线下同步举行的颁奖典礼。

 

2021年度颁奖典礼由学能提升研究中心及学生事务处共同举办。受疫情影响,典礼由2月推迟至今,首次采用线上线下同步的方式使全校师生共同见证获奖师生的高光时刻。

 

01  序幕

 

自2016年起,香港中文大学(深圳)年度颁奖典礼已成为大学一年一度的重要盛典。颁奖典礼旨在传承“榜样的力量”,鼓舞更多师生砥砺前行。

下午4:30分,在庄严肃穆的国歌中,2021香港中文大学(深圳)年度颁奖典礼拉开序幕。

协理副校长蔡小强教授致辞

 

协理副校长蔡小强教授在致辞中指出,高素质教师和高质量学生是一所大学的成功所在。他向在2021年尤其是疫情期间为学校做出特殊贡献的老师和同学们致敬,感谢大家的不懈努力和积极奉献,并宣读了校长模范教学奖和模范教学助理奖名单。

校长模范教学奖

 

随后,校长徐扬生教授为获奖的十名教师颁奖。校长模范教学奖是香港中文大学(深圳)教师的最高奖项,旨在表扬教学卓越的教师并体现大学对提供优质教育的承担。2017年至今共有16名教师获得这项荣誉。荣获2021年度校长模范教学奖的六名教师是:经管学院刘洪七、理工学院王学锋、人文社科学院王晓田和王琛、医学院|生命与健康科学学院杨洲、数据科学学院李文烨。

 

模范教学助理奖

 

多年来,年轻的教学助理也为学校的教学做出了积极贡献。获得2021年模范教学助理奖的四名教学助理是:经管学院李佳炜、理工学院许逸群、医学院|生命与健康科学学院侯明捷和数据科学学院王宇。

 

教学创新比赛优异奖

 

此外,港中大(深圳)在2022年首次举办了教学创新比赛。学能提升研究中心主任李兰宣布三个团队获得优异奖,他们是来自人文社科学院的陈山泉团队、李潇雨团队和林成川团队。阮健骢副校长为获奖团队代表颁奖。

王学锋教授发言

 

王学锋教授代表获奖教师在颁奖仪式上发表感言。他回顾自己加入港中大(深圳)的初衷是为在中国建立一所与众不同的大学添砖加瓦。他认为要培养具有专业知识与国际视野、善于积极思考、服务社会的全能型人才,课程设计与教学内容必需要国际化。他一直以这样的理念设计数学课程的教学,也相信这符合港中大(深圳)这所国际化高校的教学使命。

 

President Xu, Colleagues, and Students:

 

Let me start by saying that I am honored and grateful to receive the Presidential Exemplary Teaching Award. It means so much to me that I dressed up today, which I rarely do.

 

I’d like to thank The Centre for Learning Enhancement And Research (CLEAR) and its teaching award selection panel led by Professor Cai and Professor Li Lan for giving recognition to my efforts in teaching.

 

I’d like to thank the University, without which I would be a preacher without a church (for this I must also thank Vice President Luo who lured me to this great university); and mostly, I’d like to thank the students I taught before, without whom I wouldn’t have the sense of fulfillment that I have now.

 

Students are indeed my anchor and my sanity savers. When delivering  a lecture, especially a good one, and when answering students’ questions, I temporarily forget the burdens that rest on my back. On the other hand, when I manage to create an active learning atmosphere in and outside the classroom, when I see that students are interested in the subject, sometimes even passionate about it, and when some of them tell me that they were not good at math in high school, but nonetheless are doing very well now in my course, I feel that I am in the process of fulfilling a mission that originally called upon me to work here.

 

Speaking of mission, let me mention that in addition to Tom’s enticement, I came to CUHK-Shenzhen because I want to help build a very different university, one in which students receive a well-rounded education, and are nurtured to become active thinkers, who are also equipped with solid professional skills. I believe it is our common and ultimate dream that what we do here in teaching and research can become a model, a model that contributes to the advancement and diversity of higher learning in China and beyond, a model that is of inspiring value to others.

 

Teaching a course well is only part of the efforts to make our dream come true. We should keep improving our curriculum by combining the strengths of courses at renowned domestic and international universities to better educate CUHK-Shenzhen students. After all, we are here to “combine tradition with modernity; to bring together China and the West”. In my three years working here, I have been actively involved in the curriculum design of math courses, for example, I designed/re-designed and then taught “Functional Analysis” and “Real Analysis”, using 90% of the Chinese model; I re-designed and then served as course leader of “Calculus I & II” using 90% of the American model. I am proud to have made some contribution in this regard.

 

Finally, let me say that the teaching award will spur me on in my never-ending journey to improve my teaching— our dream is and will always be on my mind.

2020-2021学年,共有65名同学获得政府及社会类荣誉奖项,包括国家奖学金5人、国家励志奖学金13人、广东省政府来粤留学生奖学金46人、中国大学生自强之星奖学金1人、中国电信奖学金1人、深圳市优秀学生骨干3人、深圳市优秀共青团员1人、广东省优秀学生骨干1人及1个深圳市五四青年奖章先进集体。

 

国家奖学金

 

国家奖学金为荣誉等级最高评审最严格的国家级奖学金。2020我校有六名学生获奖,来自经管学院、理工学院、人文社科学院、数据科学院、医学院|生命与健康科学学院。

 

大学荣誉奖项

 

2020-2021学年,共有35位同学和六个学生团体获得了大学荣誉奖项。包括优秀学生奖4人、优秀学生干部奖18人、志愿公益服务奖5人、校园文化贡献奖3人、校园大使奖3人、境外学习领导力奖2人、3个优秀学生社团、3个优秀学生组织。

最后,来自人文社科学院和逸夫书院的大二学生谭淑敏作为获奖学生代表发言。

 

谭淑敏同学首先感谢了每一位通过自己的努力为香港中文大学(深圳)创造了不同可能性的同学,接着阐述了对她而言十分重要的一个词:勇气。大学广泛的活动和各种各样的课程设计为她提供了勇敢探索的可能性,帮助她探索不同领域,拥抱美好的生活。

 

Ladies and gentlemen, good afternoon. I’m TAN Shumin, a sophomore from HSS, Shaw College. It’s a huge honor for me to share my experience with you as the representative of the student awardees. Congratulations to every awardee! I want to say thanks to the faculty and students of CUHK-Shenzhen. Thank you for creating the possibilities in this university. Now I want to share some moments about these possibilities.

 

Possibilities allow for bravery. Bravery is the most important element in my experience. I braced myself for a plunge into the nuances of languages, so I participated in the selection of the English Debate Team. As a language major freshman, however, I ranked about the last ten percent in the selection, so I spoke up in almost every class during the first semester. In the following studies, the course design allowed me to include hardcore topics in my assignments. The possibilities provided by the university – the wide range of activities and the various course design – allow for the risk of being brave.

 

Exploring different fields also requires bravery because exploration takes my time to study. That's true. But I'll say that my most memorable experience here was curating the Parklife exhibition, a time-consuming but fruitful project. I made some best friends there, and I was glad that my rubber ducks in front of Research A lit up some people's day. In hindsight, I couldn’t have done it without the students' and the faculty’s help. More importantly, I think I have known what is good university life since then.

 

The good life demands bravery, the bravery to embrace possibilities. To conduct my fieldwork research, I've been to some alternative education institutions in a big city and schools in the rural area – I’ve seen some other possibilities in education. I feel that possibilities are shrinking as a person grows older. So, I’ve tried to bring some new possibilities to this university. I brought the insights of my fieldwork to HSS as a teaching assistant, and I’ve tried to organize some innovative activities through Parklife. Although university is not the last chance to bravely embrace the possibilities, it is the best chance remaining.

 

Finally, I want to sincerely thank our friends, parents, and the University for the environment of possibilities. I believe there’s a light in each of you for new possibilities to CUHK-Shenzhen. Wish everyone the best possibilities in such a world of possibilities. This is the end of my speech. Thanks!
